In June of 1994, Elder Eric Peeples along with several former members of Beaver Dam Primitive Baptist Church founded and established Beaver Dam Independent Church. The former site of Little Indian Creek Church, located at the corners of Blake Bottom and Indian Creek Road were leased for services until a church home could be built.
From its inception, the church has supplied spiritual food to its members; a Sunday school class was organized on the third Sunday in June of 1994. As the church progressed two deacons were ordained and several mothers were later added.
Under the leadership of a spiritually minded Board of Trustees, the church was incorporated on the 20th day of November, 1996.
Being lead by the Spirit to change the name of the church and to eliminate name similarities, Beaver Dam Independent Church became Potter’s Hand Church Ministries on the 25th day of June, 2000.
Elder Eric Peeples continues to serve as Pastor, under his leadership membership continues to increase. Several renovations have been made to the current facility, expanding the square footage from approximately 3,515 to 7,031 square feet; a church van was purchased to transport both members and non-members to worship services and other church related activities.
We continue to strive to meet the spiritual needs of our community with the establishment of a Child Care Development/Summer Program in 2005, which provides after-school care and a summer program for children ages 5-12, in a safe and Christian atmosphere.
In an effort to provide continuous education and training for leaders of the Potter’s Hand Church, a Leadership Accountability Class was implemented in January 2006. Leaders are instructed in the areas of Stewardship, Christian Leadership, Morales and Values. A children's church was implemented to nurture the whole child spiritually, physically and mentally.
Though we have faced many obstacles, we continue to be led by the Spirit of God and shall continue to walk by faith not by sight.
